Why Content is Still King in Web Design

It seems a bit odd to be writing this article, this year.

Although we’re making progress, it seems like an alarming number of people still don’t get the idea that content MATTERS – more than any other part of your website!

Your content is your business. When people visit your website, your content will (if it’s written well) give them value that increases the knowledge on the exact subject they were on your website to learn about.

Besides the fact that if your content is bad, your website will likely never rank on page #1 on Google for anything, there are virtually limitless reasons why your content should be excellent.

But let’s look at one real quick: viral potential.

It’s the hottest word in modern marketing. If you “go viral,” you’ve made it. We’ve seen it time and time again. A small business puts out a video that becomes a HUGE hit online. Everyone who views it shares it with their friends. Then their friends share it with their friends. It’s a snowball effect working in favor of the business owner!

Of course, there are plenty of ways to go viral besides video (although that certainly is popular lately). But it all starts with your content. If your content provides unique value to someone who reads it, they’re likely to share that content with people they think can benefit from it.

So How Do You Create Great Content for Your Web Design?

Well, you need to find out what your market’s problems are. If you’re in the music market, for example, what problems do musicians have? Do they have problems learning how to get a record deal contract? Do they have issues promoting their music on a shoestring budget?

If so, provide those problems with real solutions. Solutions your readers can implement starting TODAY. Solutions that give them real results to problems they’ve had for a long time.

If you can do this, you’ll start to see the real power of “word of mouth.” Most online business owners dream of “hitting it big” with a “lucky” viral marketing campaign. Thing is, viral (usually) doesn’t happen by chance.

It happens because of high-quality content – whether that’s in video, text or any other form. When you’re able to give direct value to people who visit your website, they’ll share it!

Of course, this also helps you out in the SEO (search engine optimisation) world. In fact, as far as SEO goes, whenever you increase the level of the user experience on your website, your site has better chances for ranking on page #1.

Why?

Because Google loves quality content! They love sending their users to websites that provide them with the exact information they’re looking for!

So do yourself a favor. Focus on quality content. Content that delivers true value. If you take the time to do this, you’ll see dramatic results in the very near future.
