Regarding Web Design.

Queensland Conservation (QCC) is the state’s peak non-government environment organisation. We are the coordinating group for around seventy member groups across the state. We have been campaigning to protect, conserve and sustain Queensland’s natural environment for forty years.

The original QCC website was beginning to show its age. We had no ability to use multimedia, we had an old-fashioned static home page and using a standalone web-building application meant that pages frequently didn’t conform to any set style. We also suffered with the usual problems of no single IT support number to call, the web builder was one organisation, the host another and the domain name registry yet another.

We went through an internal process of deciding what we thought we wanted from our new site and then looked for local businesses that could help us to realise it. Argonyx was the only developer that was prepared to come and speak to us in person and the only developer that was prepared to consult with us and to offer a quote for the work we required rather than merely state an hourly rate. That’s important for a charity where money is always tight.

From the beginning it was clear that Argonyx were different from other IT organisations. Unfailingly courteous, and always prepared to explain how we might implement some of our bright ideas, and why some were not advisable, they never made us feel out of our depth or ignorant.

Throughout the whole process we were impressed with the way Argonyx took our half-formed ideas and made them work. We wanted to incorporate an email newsletter, we wanted to use RSS to notify supporters and journalists of new stories on the site, we wanted to have a secure payment gateway for donations and we wanted to involve users in the process of making submissions to government and talking to politicians. All of these features have become simple thanks to Argonyx’ collaborative style.

The content management system, while it has its quirks and must be learned like any new application, makes day to day updating of the site a breeze. More complicated things on our highly customised site, like setting up a new campaign area, are still well within the grasp of the average computer user. The clean, modern ‘look’ of the new site has prompted admiring comment from users and colleagues and is entirely due to the designers at Argonyx. I have no hesitation in recommending Argonyx Studios to any person or organisation that is looking to create a professional looking, simple to operate and high performance website.
